Help protect the rightsof abused youths
An agency that works directly with the courts needs volunteers to review foster care cases and make recommendations for permanent placement, among other assignments.
Lead tours at a nature center
Volunteers are needed to lead tours at a large nature center north of Baytown. Participants will shepherd school groups, Scout troops and the general public around the grounds, point out interesting flora and fauna, and explain how the local ecology is impacted by human activity.
Training is provided.

Help preserve history
Battleship Texas in La Porte needs youth and adult volunteers to work at the San Jacinto Battleground and Battleship Texas State Park. Volunteers can help with restoration, maintenance, curatorial projects, exhibits and educational programs, and act as a tour guide and participate in living history events on the battleship.
Teach English asa second language
A literacy program needs volunteers to work with adult learners, either on a one-to-one or small-group basis, to teach them to read and write English well enough to function productively in the community. Knowledge of a foreign language is not required.
