City of Pasadena offers free Citizen Police Academy
The city of Pasadena is offering a weekly Citizen Police Academy beginning Tuesday, March 19.
According to a press release from the city, "If you've ever watched one of the popular crime shows on TV and wondered how close to real life it actually was, the upcoming Citizen Police Academy is for you. It is a 13-week course that gives you the opportunity to experience police work the way no television show can capture, with you right in the middle of things. Each week, you'll get an inside look at things like S.W.A.T., police pursuits, firearms demonstrations and criminal, narcotics and crime scene investigations. The CPA is free and open to all Pasadena residents and individuals who own a business in Pasadena. Participants must be 21 or older and must pass a criminal background check."
The CPA class takes place from 7-10 p.m. Tuesdays from March 19 to June 11.
Classes are held at the Pasadena Police Department's Community Room at 1201 Davis St. and range from lectures to demonstrations and hands-on practice.
