About 70 Genoa Elementary School students recently visited the new science building at San Jacinto College in Pasadena.
The students' visit to the 113,000-square-foot science building included digging for fossils, learning about the human body and creating chemical reactions.
According to a college press release, "The science department invites schools to the campus each semester to allow college science majors the opportunity to apply and teach elementary students what they've learned. The service-learning project also exposes K-12 students to the world of science as more efforts are being made across the College to promote education and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)."
San Jacinto College is at 8060 Spencer Highway, Pasadena.
The college has three campuses and offers 200 degree and certificate courses to its more than 25,000 students.
