Memorial High School holds mock presidential debate, election

Memorial High School in Pasadena held a pre-election mock presidential debate, rally and election in October.
According to a press release, Memorial student Dorian Johnson played the role of Barack Obama and Braden Cain was Mitt Romney in speeches before the student body.
In addition, a large portion of students participated in a mock political rally, which was held in the school's gym. Students played several roles in the rally, including some as Secret Service agents, campaign managers and the press corps.
This series of political learning events culminated in a mock election held Wednesday, Oct. 31.
Memorial High School is at 4410 Crenshaw Road, Pasadena.

The Pasadena Independent School District consists of 58 schools and was founded in 1898. More than 52,000 students attend its schools. The district is only one of two in its size to earn the Texas Recognized District status from the Texas Education Agency for five consecutive years. Kirk Lewis is the current superintendent of the school district.
