La Porte High releases 2012 football schedule

La Porte High School released its varsity football schedule for the upcoming season.

Led by coach Jeff LaReau, the Bulldogs went 12-2 overall and 5-0 in District 21-5A last season, losing 34-6 to Port Arthur Memorial in the playoffs.

The Bulldogs begin the 2012 season at home against Clear Brook on Friday, Aug. 31.

La Porte hits the road the following week with a visit to South Houston on Friday, Sept. 7. The Bulldogs return home to battle Clear Springs on Friday, Sept. 14, head to Brazoswood on Friday, Sept. 21 and come home to mix it up with Sterling on Friday, Sept. 28.

In October, the Bulldogs face West Brook on the road on Saturday, Oct. 6, take on Deer Park at home on Friday, Oct. 19 and visit Channelview on Friday, Oct. 26.

The team begins to wrap up the regular season on Friday, Nov. 2, hosting North Shore, and finally visiting Port Arthur Memorial on Friday, Nov. 9, in a chance to avenge last year's playoff loss.

All Thursday and Friday games begin at 7 p.m., while Saturday contests start at 6 p.m.

Should the Bulldogs qualify for the postseason, the first round of the 5A Texas state playoffs would begin the weekend of Nov. 16.

Episcopal plays its home games at the 10,000-seat Bulldog Stadium, located at E. Fairmont Parkway at Texas St. La Porte.
