Armand Bayou Nature Center seeks new volunteers
The Armand Bayou Nature Center is seeking volunteers who enjoy working outdoors.
The center will host two volunteer orientation days from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 and Saturday, Sept. 29. Attendees will learn more about the center and volunteer responsibilities which include greeting visitors, working with naturalist instructors and cultural docents during guided tours given to school field trips, outreach programs and giving on site demonstrations, according to a press release.
During orientation, staff and volunteers will introduce the many ways volunteers help the nature center. The sessions cover the history and mission of ABNC, immediate opportunities for training and upcoming events.
Volunteers should be at least 18 years old, but there are teen volunteer opportunities available as well.
Volunteers are needed to lead educational field trips, participate in land management and conservation projects, meet and greet guests and aid in the gift shop or build and repair facilities. Those who can do carpentry, electrical work, mowing and repairs are especially needed.
For more information or to reserve a spot on either orientation day, call 281-474-2551, ext. 14.
The Armand Bayou Nature Center is at 8500 Bay Area Blvd., Pasadena.
