Seabrook releases August sales tax data
Seabrook city officials have collected tax revenue for August from the State Comptroller's Office, city officials announced on Aug. 9. The city received revenue totaling $282,378.76. The August figure reflects a 2.45 percent, or a $7,857.68, increase compared to August 2011. However, the total sales tax revenue so far for fiscal year 2011-12 is down 2.54 percent, or $61,621.39, less than last year's total. The fiscal year-to-date sales revenue is $2,449,062.47. The sales tax for Seabrook is broken into three funds: the General Fund (51 percent), the Economic Development Corporation (25 percent) and the Crime Control District (24 percent). The June revenue breakdown is $143,743.62 for the General Fund, $71,871.80 for the Economic Development Corporation Fund and $66,763.34 for the Crime Control District Fund. August collections are based on and generated by June sales tax revenues. Shopping and dining local keeps tax dollars in the Seabrook economy, improves city services and facilities, and encourages future business development. It also helps fund crime control measures.
