Pasadena Fighting Eagles release varsity football schedule
Pasadena High School has released the varsity football schedule for the upcoming season.
Coming off a 5-5 season in which it didn't make the playoffs and tied for fifth place in the district, the Fighting Eagles, under the coaching of Jeff Ganske, look for a bounce-back this season.
Pasadena will once again begin the season on the road at Houston Spring Woods at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1. The Fighting Eagles took last year's contest 35-26.
Weeks 2 and 3 will have the Fighting Eagles in the comfort of its 16,800-seat Pasadena Veterans Memorial Stadium against Houston Waltrip High School at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, and Texas City High at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14.
After an open date the weekend of Sept. 21, Pasadena will travel to The Rig in Week 5 to face Pearland High School at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 in the opener of District 22 play.
For the month of October, the Fighting Eagles will play four straight district games in their home stadium, although alternating as the home and visiting team.
Pasadena will be home when it faces South Houston High School for Homecoming at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6; the visitor for Pasadena Memorial High School at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12; home again for Manvel High School at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18; and finally be the visitors against Dobie High School at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25.
Pasadena will need better efforts if they are to finish up strong against Alvin High School at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2 and against Sam Rayburn High School for Senior Night at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9. The Fighting Eagles allowed more than 40 points to each of these opponents in 2011.
Should the Fighting Eagles qualify for the postseason, the first round of the 5A Texas playoffs will begin Friday, Nov. 16.
Pasadena plays its home games at 2902 Dabney Drive, in Pasadena.
