Pasadena Parks and Rec announces upcoming swim, Special Olympics programs

The Pasadena Parks and Recreation Department is hosting various swimming programs along with the Special Olympics program.

Summer Swim Programs will take place at the Multipurpose Recreation Center, located at 5200 Burke Road, which operates from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.

Session two of Swim Lessons I  Introduction to Water will be held from 9-9:45 a.m., Aug. 13 to Aug. 16. This class costs $10 per session for residents and $15 for non-residents.

Session two of Swim Lessons II  Basic Swim Intro will take place from 1-1:45 p.m., 2-2:45 p.m. and 3-3:45 p.m., Aug. 13 to Aug. 16. Cost is $10 for residents and $15 for non-residents. Participants must have completed Swim I to attend Swim II.

Participants must register to attend. Register by calling 281-487-1755, emailing MRC@ci.pasadena.tx.us or visiting mrc.pasadenatexas.net.

Pasadena Special Olympics Bocce Ball will take place from 6-7 p.m. at the Multipurpose Recreation Center. Participants must be 8 or older and must sign up by Aug. 16. Practices will begin on Aug. 7.

The area Bocce Tournament will take place on Sept. 15 at Kincaid School, 201 Kincaid School Drive, Houston.

Pasadena Special Olympics Aquatics will take place at a time that will be announced on a later date at Strawberry Pool, located at 1104 Parkside in Pasadena. For more information, call 713-944-0262.

This program will feature un-assistied swimming and competitive swimming. Deadline to sign up is Aug. 14. Participants must be 8 or older and must wear appropriate swim suits and be able to swim with minor assistance.
