Police charge five men and two juveniles in connection with 17 vandalism cases
Police arrested five men and two juveniles in connection with 17 acts of vandalism in La Porte's Fairmont West subdivision.
Marc Anthony Gonzalez, 18; Rolando Elias Perez, 19; Manuel Luther Camacho, whose age was unavailable; Nicholas Iser Lara, 18; Justyn Anthony Vela, 18; and two additional juveniles face charges of criminal mischief after they allegedly committed a two-night crime spree in late March, according to a La Porte Police Department news release.
Investigators say the men first tried to detonate homemade explosives in the front yard of their friends' homes. When that failed, they reportedly decided to use pellet guns to shoot out vehicle windows throughout the subdivision.
The suspects, if convicted, could spend a year in jail and be fined up to $4,000, according to the release.
The La Porte Fire Marshall's Office continues to investigate allegations related to the homemade explosives.
