Eduardo Aleman, Pedro Reyes and Alondra Serna placed seventh at World Scholar's Cup in June in Bangkok, Thailand.

The three students teamed up for the academic competition, which featured more than 300 teams and 1,000 students from around the world.

The team participated in persuasive writing, the scholar's challenge, team debate and the scholar's bowl.

Pasadena High was ranked as the top seed in the tournament based on the team's score in a Houston-area competition last spring.

Aleman, the team's top scorer, was one of six students selected to participate in the debate showcase. He also earned an honorable mention in literature.

Serna placed third in the scholar's challenge and earned a bronze medal in the art competition and an honorable mention in science.

Reyes earned honorable mentions in art, current affairs and science.
