Krist Samaritan Center was one of four non-profit organizations in the greater Houston area to participate in the Marathon Strategic Leadership Program, sponsored by Marathon Oil Corporation in collaboration with Executive Service Corps of Houston.
The three-day leadership training took place May 14 through May 16 at Marathon Oil’s Houston headquarters. The program was dedicated to solving business challenges for non-profit organizations.
Participants studied and solved data integrity and disaster preparedness issues for Krist Samaritan Center’s new electronic medical record system.
“Marathon Oil’s leadership students really enjoyed the hands-on experience this exercise provided them, said John Farrell, organizational development manager for Marathon Oil, in a press release. “Much of the energy and excitement came from having to work on real issues and challenges facing Krist Samaritan Center and the other non-profit organizations participating in this project.”
“Krist Samaritan Center is proud to collaborate with Marathon Oil,” said Dr. Jason Martin of Krist Samaritan Center. “We appreciate the strategic plan they have developed for us to ensure our clients’ electronic medical records are kept secure, even in the event of a hurricane or other emergency.”
Founded in 1986, the center provides counseling and mental health services to people of all economic backgrounds and faiths throughout Houston and Galveston.
