Friendswood ISD bids farewell to 14 staff members
Friendswood Independent School District announced the retirement of 14 staff members over the course of the summer.
The district bid farewell to Cathy Bernacki, 19-year FISD deputy tax collector; Bob Crotteau, math teacher and golf coach for 16 years; Nancy Dyess, who spent 13 years with the district as an administrations receptionist and secretary for two superintendents; Sherry Green, deputy superintendent, after 13 years in the district; Kathryn Jones, eighth-grade language arts teacher as well as a seventh- and eighth-grade special education teacher, after nine years at Friendswood Junior High; Friendswood High School Spanish teacher Kay Jones, sponsor of pep squad, cheerleaders, Spanish club and Spanish National Honor Society, after 38 years; Kathy Kahn, family and consumer science teacher at FHS for 10 years; Kathryn Kinloch after 22 years in FISD, including kindergarten, first and special education positions at Westwood-Bales; Eileen Mehnert, a 32-year district veteran who served as receptionist at Friendswood High School, assistant principal's and principal's secretary at Friendswood Junior High and assistant superintendent's secretary receptionist at the administration building; Roslyn Miller, Cline Elementary first-grade teacher for 16 years; and Sharon Sullivan, who served at both Westwood-Bales and Cline for 18 years.
The district also acknowledged three staff members who retired earlier in the year, including Athletic Director Steve VanMeter, custodian Gracie Mendoza and maintenance member Glen Helwig.
