San Jacinto College to host young musicians contest
San Jacinto College Central will host the Young Artist Competition for piano and voice students on Saturday, March 24.
The competition is open to students in grades 7 through 12, and contestants will compete for cash prizes and an opportunity to be considered for SJC scholarships. Faculty from SJC Central’s music department will judge the competition.
A free public awards ceremony and concert for the top performers will be held at 2 p.m. following the competition.
The cost to register for the contest is $25 and is limited to the first 40 entrants. Vocalists can request an accompanist for an extra fee of $25.
The competition, awards ceremony and concert will be held the Jan Corbin Recital Hall of the Monte Blue Music Building, 8060 Spencer Highway in Pasadena.
