Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas makes donation to the Rose
The Rose, a nonprofit breast cancer prevention organization, received a nearly $2.7 million grant to help pay for breast health care for the underserved in 24 counties.
The grant was awarded to The Rose by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas through a partnership that started two years ago and will help the organization serve women in 24 targeted areas known to have high numbers of breast cancer and mortality rates.
The Rose will help 6,525 uninsured women age 40 and older who live and work in the counties targeted by the organization and have never had or do not regularly get mammograms.
Grant money will pay for a host of follow-up services as well as screenings.
Another grant received by The Rose for $147,580 from CPRIT will pay for outreach and education on breast cancer screenings for uninsured women in Brazoria, Liberty, Waller and Chambers counties.
