San Jacinto College to offer cyber training
San Jacinto College will now offer cyber security training to more than 2,500 unemployed and incumbent workers thanks to a $4.9 million H-1B Technical Skills Training Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.
The college will implement the Information Technology Training for Tomorrow Project, which will offer information technology security, mid-level IT training and IT soft skills training to local industry professionals.
According to the press release, Sarah Janes, vice president of the SJC Continuing and Professional Development division, said, "Cyber security is an area that is needed across all industries, from manufacturing to health care to small business. This grant will allow us to supply companies with the employees they need for this specific area."
The college will work with IBM to develop the new IT security courses.
Upon completion of the program, participants will receive certification with national accreditation.
