Pasadena ISD receives $165,000 from McDonald’s Invitational Basketball Tournament

The McDonald’s Invitational Basketball Tournament raised $165,000 for the Pasadena ISD Education Foundation.

Chairman of the tournament Ben Meador presented the check to Education Foundation President Bill Barmore during a ceremony Jan. 24 at the administration building. The donation will be used for the group’s continuing support of mini grants for district teachers. The total from November’s tournament is $20,000 more than the amount raised in 2010.

The tournament has raised $835,000 in its 11-year history.

“We will go over the $1 million mark next year,” Meador said, according to a press release.

“I promise you that every dollar we get will benefit kids,” Kirk Lewis, superintendent of the Pasadena ISD, said in the press release.

Meador also presented a check to the Deer Park ISD for $31,555.30.

“I’m really grateful to have the Deer Park folks join with us,” Meador said, in the press release.
