Police investigate fatal traffic accident on Kurland
A 23-year-old man is dead after his vehicle drove into a retention pond at 12800 Kurland.
Witnesses reported the man, who was speeding eastbound on Kurland at 10:15 a.m. on Feb. 5, struck a curb and then drove into the pond, according to a Houston Police Department news release.
Police say one witness jumped into the pond to help pull the driver to safety, but the driver's weight was too much and the witness had to let the man go.
No others were involved in the accident.
The victim's identity will be released after verification by Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, according to the release.
