Kristen Foxley has been appointed to the Texas Developmental Education Advisory Committee.
DEAC works to improve education in the state with a focus on increasing the success rate of college students.
"By participating on the committee we will be forerunners in implementing best practices and innovative programs in developmental education in order to increase student success rates," Foxely said in a press release.
Foxley is a professor of developmental mathematics at San Jacinto College Central and also has experience teaching in Klein and Spring ISDs. Developmental education programs seek to prepare students for success in college-level classes.
DEAC looks at development education, intervention and policies and the way they impact student success. The committee has three teams; Foxley will be on the team that oversees program evaluation.
"Reshaping developmental education is key to helping more students succeed in college," Foxley said.
