Cenikor's Deer Park residents give to community for holidays
Residents of Cenikor's Deer Park held a carwash to raise money to benefit families in need.
For more than five years, residents have been working together to help families in need. Beginning in October, teams of five to seven residents washed cars in Friendswood, Deer Park and Pasadena to raise the money. The money was used to purchase gift cards that were given to families.
"I feel a real connection to the human condition when I give back," one resident said in a press release. "The real reason for the season is getting to see the expression on someone's face when it changes from sadness to joy."
In total, residents raised more than $2,800 distributed among six area families.
