Police seek information about robbery suspect
Pasadena police are asking for help identifying the suspect responsible for a robbery and attempted robbery at two convenience stores.
The first incident occurred at 1:45 p.m. on Nov. 13 when a man entered the store, took a drink from a cooler, then asked the clerk behind the counter for a package of Marlboro cigarettes and the money in the cash register, according to the police department news release.
The clerk complied with the directions, assuming the robber was armed. The man took the money and left the store. He is possibly the same man who entered the store a few minutes earlier, most likely as a customer.
The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-20s, approximately 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 130 to 150 pounds.
The first time he went into the store he was wearing a gray or tan T-shirt, black shorts and black sandals. When he came back in the second time, he had added a black hoodie jacket.
He is believed to have left the store in a black four-door 1999 Mitsubishi Galant with a rear spoiler. The left front wheel appeared to be missing a hubcap and may have been displaying a red dealer tag on the front.
According to the release, the description of the man and his methods are similar to the man who attempted to rob a clerk at the Texaco station at 2626 Spencer Highway at about 3:10 p.m. This time, however, another customer entered the store just as the man demanded money from the clerk, and the would-be robber backed away from the counter and left the store without the money.
The second burglar was dressed in similar clothes, except for wearing a dark plaid flannel long-sleeve shirt over the black hoodie.
Anyone with any information regarding the two incidents and identity of the suspect may call the Pasadena Police Department at 713-477-1221, or call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477. Tipsters may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
