La Porte to hold annual 'Christmas on Main Street' festivities

La Porte’s 24th annual “Christmas on Main Street” will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1.

This year’s event will feature holiday favorites, including free pictures for children with Santa and Mrs. Claus at Five Points Plaza. And more than 50 vendors will be selling everything from arts and crafts to food and Christmas gift items.

Clutch, the Houston Rockets’ Bear, will sign autographs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and he will be touring the street with Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph, and will help Santa and the Mayor light the tree at Five Points Plaza at 8 p.m.

This year’s entertainment lineup will include choirs, orchestras and bands from La Port ISD schools on Main Street stages, and other performers at Five Points Plaza.

And back again this year will be the tubing hill, which will be covered in snow and will be located just off of Main Street on North 1st Street. Children and adults of all ages will have the opportunity to slide from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The festivities will officially begin with a parade at 5:30 p.m. and entertainment will start at 6 p.m.
