Pasadena to kick off '12 Days of Christmas' with activities and programs

The City of Pasadena will begin its “12 Days of Christmas” schedule from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 2 with a Christmas tree lighting at City Hall, located at 1211 Southmore.

Decorations, lights and live entertainment will kick off the Christmas season, according to a press release. Santa and Mrs. Claus will make appearances. There will be performances by choirs, bands and dance groups, hayrides, games, refreshments and more.

The festivities will continue from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 3 with an open house at the Heritage Park Museum, located at 204 S. Main. According to a press release, the open house will see the museum’s historical homes decorated with Christmas lights and festive decorations.

A Christmas open house and dance will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 9 at Madison Jobe Senior Center, located at 1700 E. Thomas. Seniors can enjoy food and fun at the open house, according to the release. The free event will feature music by Country Now and Then.

The holiday mixer and Circle of Trees award ceremony will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 6 at City Hall. According to a release, organizations will decorate tress on view in City Hall, with people invited to vote for their favorites.
Holiday pictures with Santa can be taken from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 10 at the Children’s Department at the Pasadena Public Library, located at 1201 Jeff Ginn Memorial Drive. The library will provide the camera and pictures for free. The movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” will be shown as children wait their turn with Santa.

The city’s Holiday Lighted Parade will take place at 7 p.m. on Dec. 10 at Fairmont Parkway between Preston and Beltway 8.

A Christmas Dinner and Dance for Multipurpose Recreation Center will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 at Campbell Hall at the Pasadena Convention Center and Fairgrounds, located at 7902 Fairmont. Multipurpose Recreation Center participants and their families are invited to dress in their holiday best and enjoy dinner, dancing and fun, according to the release. Tickets cost $8 plus a non-perishable food item.

“The Lion King” will be shown during a “Holiday Movie Mania” screening at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 9 at the Children’s Department of the Pasadena Public Library. Other movies being in the series are “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (10:30 a.m. on Dec. 20), “Cars 2” (10:30 a.m. on Dec. 21), “Beethoven’s Christmas Adventure” (10:30 a.m. on Dec. 27), “The Smurfs” (10:30 a.m. on Dec. 28) and “Kung Fu Panda” (10:30 a.m. on Dec. 29).

A Holiday Story Time will be held from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 21 at the Children’s Department at the Pasadena Public Library. The free event will include stories, songs and games.
