City of Pasadena announces Halloween events
The City of Pasadena will be celebrating Halloween with various events taking place Oct. 22 through Oct. 31.
Festivities will kick off with the family friendly "Monster Mash," 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 22 at PAL Gym, located at 2910 Southmore. This event will feature custom-made carnival-style games, prizes, music, water tattoos, treats and a costume contest. Admission is $1 for kids age 2 to 16, and parents are free. "Creepy Crawlers: A Halloween Celebration" will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 at Armand Bayou Nature Center. This event is for all ages and will include hayrides, storytelling, face painting, crafts, guided night hikes and animal demonstrations. Visitors can wear animal costumes but not scary masks or costumes. Admission costs $10, $8 for ABNC members. Call 281-474-2551, ext. 10, to make a reservation.
"Repticon" will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 29 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Campbell Hall. This is not a Halloween-specific event, but there will be thousands of reptiles and exotic animals such as snakes, lizards and spiders from around the world. Admission costs $12 for adults or $5 for children between the ages of 5 and 12.
An "I Scream for Ice Cream" for seniors will be held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 30 at the Madison Jobe Senior Center, located at 1700 E. Thomas. Seniors can wear a costume, share Halloween stories, socialize and eat ice cream at this free event. For more information, call the center at 713-477-0175.
There will be a haunted house and zombie movie beginning at 7 p.m. on Oct. 31 at the O'Dell Harrison Recreation Center, located at 415 Delta. Past haunted houses have been for children, but this year's is open to everyone. The zombie movie being shown was made by the center's participants. Admission is to be determined but is not expected to exceed $2. For more information, call 713-948-0322.
