Volleyball: Dobie, Memorial set for district showdown
The winner of this match will emerge as the top contender to Deer Park, the reigning 22-5A champion, at least until another Pasadena ISD squad shows it's ready to challenge the Lady Deer. What's at stake: A key district win in the race for the playoffs and a chance to take the district championship away from Deer Park, which returned just about all of its top players from last season's perfect district run. Franklin quickly has established herself as the Lady Longhorns' to player in just her second season of high school volleyball. [...] the talented 6-footer may be one of the top middle blockers in her class in the country, according to her club volleyball coach. The Lady 'Horns took 14 wins into district play, which opened against Pasadena last week.
