Harris County residents are suing over claims a careless driver hit and killed a pedestrian crossing a Pasadena-area street with her daughter.

Dennis Medellin, and others, filed a lawsuit on Aug. 10 in the Harris County District Court against Rella Sanders, citing negligence.

Medellin says that on Feb. 26, Sanders killed Alfonza Rodriguez and seriously injured Rodriguez’s daughter Victoria when she carelessly turned her vehicle onto Spencer Highway. According to the brief, Rodriquez and her daughter were walking across the street at 6400 Spencer Highway in Pasadena when Sanders hit them with her vehicle.

Paramedics transported Alfonza to Bayshore Hosptial, where she was pronounced dead.

The plaintiffs are seeking wrongful death damages and court costs. They are being represented in the case by Houston attorney L. Andrew Dunham.
