Pasadena resident accuses insurers of failing to pay
A Pasadena woman is suing over claims insurers failed to pay after her husband was killed in a workplace accident.
Pasadena resident Janet Chance, individually and on behalf of her deceased husband Keith Chance’s estate, filed a lawsuit on Aug. 1 in the Harris County District Court against New Hampshire Insurance Co., Sedgwick Claims Management Services and Mason Jojola, citing violations of the Texas Insurance Code, breach of duty of good faith and fair dealing, and violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
Chance says that on June 29, 2010, the defendants denied the benefits entitled to her and her family after a workplace accident killed her husband. According to the brief, Chance, while working as an employee of HD Supply Facilities Maintenance LTD, died after falling onto pavement and fracturing his skull on May 7, 2010.
Chance is seeking damages, attorney’s fees and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Michael Doyle.
