Two local HS grads lead Army past UW Green Bay

Dobie and Cinco Ranch High School graduates helped West Point defeat UW Green Bay, 2-0, in college softball action on Thursday.

Dobie High School graduate Amanda Nguyen went two-for-three and scored the other run for West Point.

Nguyen leads Army with 31 hits.

Nguyen played at Dobie High School for Coach Robin Rackley from 2006-2010. In 2009, Nguyen earned two All-State honors from the Texas Girls' Coaches Association and the Texas Sportswriters Association. She was team captain in 2009 and 2010 and a Second-Team selection as a sophomore. Nguyen was a three-time All-District selection and played club ball for the Texas Shockwave Demarini Gold Team.

She is the daughter of Vinh and La Nguyen.

Cinco Ranch High School graduate Alex Reynolds went one-for-three and scored a run for Army.

Reynolds leads the Black Knights with 25 RBIs.

Reynolds played at Cinco Ranch High School from 2005-2009, where she lettered all four years. She earned All-District honors as a sophomore and was garnished with the team's Hustle award as a junior. Reynolds was a four-time Academic All-District selection and played club ball with Texas Storm DeMarini Gold for Coach Larry Durham.

She is the daughter of Curtis and Patricia Reynolds.
