La Porte brings in record sales tax revenues in February
This month the City of La Porte brought in higher sales tax revenues than in any previous month, according to state figures.
In February the city collected $580,803.71. That's $40,600.83 or 7.5 percent more than the February 2010 total of $540,202.88. That's also higher than the best previous month for the city, November 2010, which saw $576,582.20 in revenue.
La Porte also had a good showing last month, bringing in $418,273.90, the most it has earned in a January since 2008.
Residents of La Porte pay an 8 percent sales tax; 1.75 percent of every sale goes to support city government.
