Pasadena residents sued over alleged defamatory statements
A freight transportation company is suing Pasadena residents over alleged defamatory and slanderous statements.
Veronica Delacruz, Philip Valdez and D & V Transportation filed a lawsuit on Jan. 21 in the Harris County District Court against Pasadena residents Gail Alexander Sr., Mr. Gail’s Transportation Inc., Timothy Alexander, Lynda Clancy and Terry Lee McWilliams, alleging defamation, business disparagement and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
The plaintiffs say that in October 2010, the defendants, which include their former employer, encouraged the plaintiffs to start their own transportation company because the financial future of the defendants’ business was uncertain. According to the brief, when the plaintiffs did start their own business, due to the urging of the defendants, the defendants embarked on a campaign to spread malicious accusations against them, such as that the plaintiffs had committed illegal and immoral acts.
The plaintiffs are requesting injunctive relief to stop the defendants from spreading slanderous and defamatory statements about them. They are also seeking actual and exemplary damages, attorney’s fees and court costs. They are being represented in the case by The Woodlands attorney Michael Thompson.
