Deer Park cops report numbers from holiday DWI crackdown
Thanks to a special grant, Deer Park police put in an extra 21 patrol hours
during the New Year's weekend, netting some extra arrests.
The police department reports that officers made three arrests on charges of
driving while intoxicated; one on a fugitive driving with a suspended
license; and another on an outstanding local warrants.
The department announced last week that it would fund the additional patrol hours with a grant from the Texas
Department of Transportation specifically intended for DWI enforcement.
"In a continuing effort to reduce alcohol-related accidents, the department
will continue to focus on DWI enforcement through the S.T.E.P. program,"
says Deer Park Police Sgt. Christopher Brown.
