Pasadena cops report 43 DWI arrests in holiday sweep

The Pasadena Police Department says it arrested 43 people on charges of
driving while intoxicated during a holiday initiative.

The arrests happened between Dec. 21 and Jan 1, when the department put
extra officers on the street looking for DWIs. "And they found plenty of
them," says Public Information Officer Vance Mitchell.

Of those arrested, Mitchell says, 34 were charged with their first or second
DWI, six were charged with felony DWI, and three were minors.

Several of the people arrested also had outstanding warrants against them on
other charges, Mitchell says, including weapons violations, driving on a
suspended license, drug possession, and aggravated assault.

Mitchell also says Pasadena saw no fatal crashes during the holidays, and
thanked Pasadena residents for calling in reports of intoxicated drivers.
