HS football preview: Pasadena Dobie v. Deer Park
Pasadena Dobie visits Deer Park in District 22-5A football action on Friday.
The Longhorns are 7-2 overall and 4-0 in district play following its 35-17 win over Pasadena South Houston. Dobie rushed for 390 yards in the victory.
Senior running back Demarcus Boyd leads the Longhorns with 1,177 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns. Junior Andrew Robinson has gained 699 yards on the ground and scored eight times.
Wide receiver Chris Stockman has 17 receptions for 280 yards and one scoring grab. Davion Hurst, a senior running back, has 263 yards receiving and 174 yards on the ground. He has caught four touchdown passes.
Head Coach Jim Phillips' Longhorns quarterback is Blake Jackson. The junior has completed 49 of 87 passing attempts for 809 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions.
The Deer Park Deer are 7-2 overall and 3-1 in district games following its 35-10 victory ober Pasadena Rayburn. Deer Park outrushed Rayburn 295-165.
Junior quarterback Austin Rainer has thrown for 1,046 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions. His main receiving target is Payden McVey. McVey, a senior, who has 27 receptions for 422 yards and four scoring grabs.
Deer Park Head Coach Chris Massey will feed the ball to Justin James in the running attack. The junior running back has rushed for 432 yards and three touchdowns on the season.
Friday's kick off is slated for slated for 7 p.m.
