Pasadena hosts surging Deer Park in district duel Friday night

The Pasadena Eagles (3-3) host the Deer Park Deer (5-1) Friday night.

Pasadena was crushed by Dobie 50-3 last week. It was the Eagles third consecutive loss after beginning the season 3-0. The Eagles are only averaging 23 points per game while allowing opponents more than 25 points per game.

Pasadena signal callers Rene Fuentes and Hector Davila have combined for two touchdown passes and 569 passing yards while also throwing four interceptions.

Fuentes leads the Eagles with seven rushing touchdowns and 492 rushing yards.

Running backs Kris Ungacta and Julian Nance have combined for seven rushing touchdowns and 719 rushing yards.

Eagles receiver Nick Bernal leads Pasadena with 164 receiving yards and also has two interceptions tying him with David Hernandez, and Alberto Garza for the team lead.

Deer Park defeated South Houston 30-27 last week for their third consecutive victory. The Deer margin of victory combined for the three victories was 12 points. Deer Park has outscored opponents 141 to 140 this season.

Quarterback Austin Rainer has passed for eight touchdowns and 668 yards while also throwing three interceptions.

Deer running back Justin James has a team leading 362 rushing yards and has two rushing touchdowns.

Payden McVey leads Deer Park with three touchdown receptions and 258 receiving yards.

Deer receiver Chase gibbs only has three receptions but two of them have been touchdowns.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm at Veterans Stadium.
