One dead, one injured in Old Galveston Road car accident

On Tuesday evening, a traffic accident took the life of one male pedestrian and sent another to the hospital with minor injuries.

Houston police are investigating the incident, which took place on Sept. 14, at approximately 8:35 p.m., at the 9500 block of Old Galveston Road.

According to HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Wilson and Officer J. Ortiz, the driver of a white Chevrolet Express van was heading north on Old Galveston Road when he struck two pedestrians walking on the east shoulder of the roadway.

The driver was questioned and released at the scene and no charges were filed, although an investigation into the matter is continuing. It does not appear as if alcohol was a factor in the accident.

The identity of the deceased male, who was 31, has not been released and is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The other victim, 29, was brought to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital with minor injuries.
