See a mural go up at Pasadena's Multipurpose Recreation Center

published May. 5, 2011

Students from Sam Rayburn High School spent Wednesday morning and afternoon painting a mural along one wall of the city's Multipurpose Recreation Center.

About 50 students took part in the painting, says city spokesperson Jennifer Pedersen. It was mostly complete by about 2:30 p.m.

Those pictured here include: Rayburn student Bryan Medina; Rayburn Speech Therapist Marsha Hancock; Rayburn Special-Education Teacher Darrell Zumalt; Richard Scott, Director of Community Relations for the City of Pasadena; Jon Mathews, owner of Shades of Texas; Cavan Leerkamp, art teacher at Sam Rayburn High School; and Kirby Cardenas, Director of Parks & Recreation.

Leerkamp was responsible for designing the mural and leading the project. Read more about it here.
