Santa surprises students with tablet computers

published Dec. 20, 2011 - Story by Jordan Edwards

Santa presented 20 high school seniors at KIPP Houston High School with their own Samsung Galaxy tablets.

The presentation was part of AT&T's education initiative, which also included $5,000 donations to KIPP Houston and YES Prep Public Schools.

The students who received a tablet were from the Alief, Aldine, Pasadena and East End areas.

"These gifts reflect AT&T's ongoing support of education and Houston's underserved children," said Mike Feinberg, co-founder of KIPP, in a press release. "The computer tablets were a thrill for our surprised seniors, who have been working around the clock to prepare for finals and completing college applications. Our schools will use the generous monetary donation from AT&T to help pay for KIPPsters to take college preparation exams so we can make sure they are set up for success and pick the best fit for college."
