Pasadena resident honored with 2011 Distinguished Citizen award

Dana Johnson Philibert was named the Pasadena ISD's Distinguished Citizen for 2011 for her contributions to the community.
Philibert has been part of many local community service projects and initiatives. "Her involvement in our community is a blessing to our community," said Pasadena ISD Board of Trustees President Jack Bailey in a press release.
Throughout her time in the community, Philibert has had a hand in many activities. She has been a member of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce for 20 years and currently serves as chairperson for the organization. She was elected to the city council in 2001 and served until 2009, the term limit. She was elected mayor pro tem in 2006.
Philibert is also involved with Pasadena ISD as a member of the Education Foundation, which she was president of in 2009. She is now part of the steering committee for the McDonald's Texas Invitational basketball Tournament. Philibert is also active in the Pasadena Roatary Club and historical society among other organization in the area.
Philibert is the owner of Philibert Allstate Insurance Agency, which was named Business of the year by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce in 2006. "She is one of the most successful businesswomen in our community and one of the most generous sources of support for our school district," Dr. Kirk Lewis, superintendent of Pasadena ISD, said in the press release.
